More Cloud Computing Projections for 2014

The New Year is right around the corner, and as result, the Internet is buzzing with top projections, forecasts and expectations for a number of hot technologies that impact the state of the contact center. One such technology is cloud computing. Let’s take a look at a consolidated roundup of the top predictions for the cloud space – and as such, the cloud contact center space – thus far.

  • According to an Enterprise Architecture and Accenture Cloud Computing Presentation, public cloud spending will increase at a CAGR of 26.4 percent over the next three years, which will represent 17 percent of all IT products by 2016.
  • Meanwhile, Gartner is looking toward 2014 as a huge year for IT spending, specifically when it comes to the cloud. The research firm expects nearly half of large enterprises to have deployed the cloud by the end of 2017, according to research acquired during Gartner’s ITxpo 2013.
  • Gartner is similarly seeing growth for the cloud security market, as well. According to more research collected during its ITxpo convention, the worldwide cloud-based security services market will be valued at $2.1 billion by this year’s end, and this number will rise to $3.1 billion by 2015.
  • Last but not least, McKinsey & Company issued a report that projects the total economic impact of the cloud to be as high as anywhere from $1.7 to $6.2 trillion by 2025.

These numbers spell out quite a bit for those in the contact center arena. For starters, the cloud contact center will experience unfathomable growth next year and in the years to come. As such, the cloud security market will spike, as contact center and IT managers will want to ensure that their information is secure within their cloud environment.  These numbers will certainly take into effect as more companies come to the realization that the cloud provides very promising competitive advantages. Where do you see the cloud heading next year or perhaps even farther than that?
