Yet Another Telemarketing Blunder – and What You Can Learn From it

In fact, recently, the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) issued two notices of violation that totaled $17,000 in penalties due to the use of robocalls by politicians and political parties. For those of you unfamiliar with robocalls, they are automated calling devices that dial telephone numbers and deliver a pre-recorded message. The CRTC entered into a settlement agreement with those who violated their terms and received full cooperation. "We expect candidates who are running political campaigns, and telemarketing service providers to put appropriate safeguards in place to ensure compliance with the Unsolicited Telecommunications Rules,” explained Andrea Rosen, the CRTC’s Chief Compliance and Enforcement Officer, in a statement.

Overall, the Canadian political parties had no other choice but to no longer violate the Unsolicited Telecommunications Rules and to deliver on their promise to commit to them. While everything was handled smoothly, the importance of understanding how to optimally use telemarketing software cannot be understated here.
